Was just checking out the website to see if any more ship-
mates from my time onboard had signed the guestbook. Would
like to attend one of these reunions but just haven't made it
yet. Making this entry to mainly update my e-mail address.
Would sure like to hear from anybody besides Jim Hinde, who's
going to this year's reunion, who remembers the 1972 goodwill
cruise and the 2nd Saturday Music Festival that was held on
the flight deck. THANKS! Your shipmate in peace!! Dave Georges

Time 0405 Zulu 01 July 2007.(Hey, remember that time keeping!)
I just would like to say hello again -(I posted here three years ago) and to thank all those who E-mailed me of the old crew; Gibby, Dan Horvath and those other crew members of that time period who's numerous postings have appeared on this board. It is a great pleasure to see their names again and yes, like eveyone, it never fails to amaze how strong the memories of my time onboard are still so fresh.
In closing I would like to note that during my time on USS Thomaston (1982-1984) I shot with my camera (35mm Olympus OM1) the ships last two wespac deployments. In all I took about 400 photos of the ship, the crew and the various ports. I don't think I can upstage the cruise books of that time, but I would love to share these images with everyone this site (just have to get a new scanner, the normal computer snafu shit).
Again best wishes, and I hope to upload!

I was on the The Thomaston in late 1983 going from Okinawa to Korea. Most of the Marines got sea sick, but I noticed the sailors buying up all the saltine crackers and figured some thing was up! Me and a couple buddies played fisbee in the the hold and took some great pictures and had a blast. We we're able to sleep though, because of the aweful smell (everyone got sick) in the "guest sleeping quarters" in the bow of the ship...God Bless the Navy! Great memories, told the story a hundred times-Semper Fi

Ok Gentlemen, I need your help. My father was John McKeag who passed away on 052807. We had most of his Navy memorabilia displayed at visitation and we were asked quite a few times what the words say under the "Sylvester" type cat and alligator meant. He told me once, but I have forgotton. Thank You for your help.

The 2 trips acroos the equaator was well worth it. I was the guy who ran "Pizza Nite" and made evryone their own individual pizza (including the 250 marines aboard)
