Hey Guys, For anyone who was on the Tommy in April 1975 is entitled to receive the Vietnam Service Medal. Can't list the site on this message board, but look it up or email me.
Maybe I'm the last to know about this but the Tommy was awarded 2 Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals. One for Operation Eagle Pull and Frequent Wind. Frequent Wind is the LAST Operation of the Vietnam War and you can exchange one of the AFEM medals for a VSM.
Hope all is well. "Doc" from 74-76

Hello, Doc Paredes! I was on '76 - '79, nicknamed 'Jive' by GMG1 Kendall. I left about the same time as you did, if I remember right. Did I see an MD behind our name? Guess we didn't scare you clear out of the business! Was great to see your notes and hope all is well with you and yours.

Hello! Thank you all for your service!
I am helping my daughter (age 10) research the changes in Naval Warfare/Ships from Revolutionary times to present day.
My brother Seaman Apprentice Richard P. Caputo, served aboard your ship in 1978. He passed away that year...and it has been a real pleasure viewing this website and getting a glimpse of his "home away from home"...even some of the men with whom he served that year! Thank you for sharing these photos with us! I would love to hear from anyone who might have served with my brother!
We appreciate all you do for our nation!

Stumbled upon this website last night. I hung out with the BT's in 1978 and 1979 while the Thomaston was drydocked at Todd. I've been looking for Duaine "Chico" Canale for over 10 years and was saddened to hear that he passed away in 1984. See that Big Mac is gone now too. Can some one email me and let me know what happened with Chico? Thanks.
